50 Shades of Green Smoothie for St. Patty's Day

 

With St. Patrick's Day celebrations just around the corner I thought I would share a green drink that is fun and healthy. No one needs to know that it is alcohol free. You can still party like a rock star with all the energy you will get from this drink!
 
If you have a sensitive tummy, it’s best to avoid smoothies with frozen bananas. Hemp Hearts can add creaminess instead. They’re a rich source of iron, perfect for keeping your iron levels at an optimal level, and hypoallergenic. 
 
Ingredients:
1 cup      filtered water or non-dairy milk
2 cups    cubed pineapple
2 tbsp     Hemp Hearts
2 tsp       freshly grated or sliced ginger 
3 cups    chopped romaine lettuce or 2 cups baby spinach
pinch      pink rock or gray sea salt 
              
Optional Booster: 
1 tbsp     collagen powder
 
Directions:
1. In a blender, layer the water or non-dairy milk, pineapple, Hemp Hearts, ginger, collagen (if using) and salt. Add the greens last. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds or until creamy. Makes 2 servings. 
 
Recipe Notes:
*The ginger and pineapple in this drink will help you digest the raw greens. If you buy organic ginger, there is no need to peel it, which will save you time and deliver greater flavour.
*If you can’t find collagen powder and don’t mind a thicker beverage, replace the collagen powder with gelatine powder.
